On May 23, 2017, ISIS militants called the Maute Group invaded and sealed off Marawi City. The militants targeted the trapped Christians, destroying their churches and shooting hundreds them within sight. During the battle, Datu Lucman, a Muslim, helped 64 Christians escape the city by having them wear hijabs. Right before Christmas, Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (Association of Philippine Broadcasters) released an online film as a tribute to the heroism of Datu Lucman and Muslims. In the film, a group of people in hijabs sang “O Holy Night”, later revealing that some of them were the Christian survivors that were helped by Datu Lucman.
