TBWA\SMP chief joins effort to elevate Philippine creativity

MANILA, Philippines – TBWA\SMP Chief Creative Officer Melvin Mangada has been appointed to the Philippine Creative Industries Development Council (PCIDC) as a Private Sector Representative. As part of the group, Mangada will work with Representatives from different industries to spearhead the growth and development of the Philippine creative economy.

Founded as part of the Philippine Creative Industries Development Plan (PCIDP), the PCIDC will spearhead efforts to establish the Philippines as a regional creative hub. Under the Plan, the PCIDC will work to strengthen the country’s creative sector across music, film, design, crafts, and digital media.

“This is a tremendous opportunity for the local industry, and one full of possibilities,” notes Mangada, on the appointment. “As one of the private sector representatives, our team is ready to roll up our sleeves and turn those possibilitiesposibilities into action.”

Mangada is no stranger to initiatives to elevate and promote local creativity on the global stage, having participated in similar programs through participation in organizations such as the Association of Accredited Advertising Agencies of the Philippines (4A’s), The Museum Foundation, and the University of the Philippines.

“This is an exciting time for Philippine creativity,” says Mangada. “With local talent increasingly being recognized internationally, there is a real opportunity to showcase our country as a nation that nurtures and grows creativity, in all of its forms.”
