BUSAN Last night, TBWA\Santiago Mangada Puno was the most awarded Philippine agency twice in a row at South Korea’s AD STARS advertising festival, winning 8 awards—a Film Grand Prix for its viral video ‘Disgusting Stories’, two Golds, one Silver, two Bronzes, and two Crystals. Executive Creative Director and Copywriter of the Grand Prix-winning campaign Bryan Siy accepted the metals on behalf of the Manila-based Disruption agency.
As a campaign to raise awareness about the horrors of child abuse, ‘Disgusting Stories’ for Bahay Tuluyan was created to help break the silence. Twenty-four hours after its release, Facebook took the video down. Local and international media, as well as concerned communities reacted to what seemed like censorship, and the clamor to bring back the video moved the social media giant to reinstate it. Aside from the Film Grand Prix award, the campaign received a Gold in Branded Viral Videos, a Film Craft Gold for Use of Music, a Film Craft Silver for Direction, and a PSA Bronze for Human Rights.
During the height of the Marawi invasion last year, Datu Lucman, a courageous Muslim saved 64 Christian lives by helping them out of the sealed off city. TBWA\SMP, in partnership with Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas released a video last December as a tribute to Datu Lucman’s act of heroism. The video was awarded a Bronze in PSA – Human Rights, and a Crystal for PSA – Peace & Justice.
All things delicious, including creative ideas, take time to marinate, and that’s exactly what two of TBWA\SMP’s young creatives conveyed in their work ‘Covered Raw’. This print material won out of the hundreds of entries submitted for the annual Advertising Age cover contest. ‘Covered Raw’ was also awarded a Print Crystal at AD FEST 2018.
AD STARS is an international advertising festival held in the Republic of Korea that awards the best works in the industry.
