NEW YORK Philippine-based agency TBWA\Santiago Mangada Puno took home three metals from the 2018 Clio Awards, and two from the Clio Music Awards. The campaign ‘Disgusting Stories’ in partnership with Bahay Tuluyan won a Gold for Use of Music, Silver in Film, and a Bronze in Film Technique. TBWA\SMP also won a Silver in Brand Design for ‘Frottage’, a campaign for The Red Whistle, and Bronze for Use of Music for ‘Anak’, an online video for Philippine premier lifestyle and clothing brand Bench.

‘Disgusting Stories’, the campaign to end sexual abuse, has been a big winner in this year’s awards season, bagging a Gold Lion at the 2018 Cannes International Festival of Creativity, and a Grand Prix at the recently concluded AD STARS 2018. It’s widely lauded for its creative, yet disturbing portrayal of sexual abuse—enough that social media giant Facebook took the online video down before reinstating it after facing a backlash from local and international media, as well as the online community.

During International Condom Day, TBWA\SMP together with The Red Whistle, an organization that raises HIV awareness, created ten works of art showing how sex can be both safe and fun without penetration or use of condoms. These pieces were shown at a one-day exhibit together with works from renowned Filipino artists Kiko Escora, and Christina Dy.

To honor Overseas Filipino Workers everywhere, TBWA\SMP teamed with long-time client partner and local fashion brand Bench to create a video of children singing the song ‘Anak’ in different languages. The viral video features celebrities Rocco Nacino and Max Collin, both of whom are children of OFWs.

The Grand Clio winners will be announced this October 3 in New York City.

The Clio Awards is an international awards competition that celebrates achievements in the advertising industry.
