Fragile Reefs
Tubbataha Coral Rip
In the westernmost province of the Philippines lies the Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park.
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Tubbataha occupies 97,000 hectares which took more than 15 million years to form. But in 2013, more than 6,000 square meters of it was destroyed by a poacher’s vessel and a warship within a year.
As the reefs continue to recuperate years after the incident, Artists from the Paper Cutters Guild of the Philippines gathered to create awareness about the fragility of the Tubbataha Reefs.
