Jose Mari Chan’s “Christmas In our Hearts” has been the most overplayed holiday tune for 30 years. Thanks to Filipino radio DJs who started the tradition of playing the song, beginning September 1. Spotify wanted to introduce its Holiday Hub — where Filipinos can discover new Christmas beats. 

On September 1, 2019, Spotify launched the first-ever radio roadblock. Instead of Jose Mari Chan classics, DJs played songs that can be found on the Holiday Hub, and drove listeners to stream the songs on the app. For the first time in 30 years, “Christmas In Our Hearts” wasn’t the most played song of the season.
