SINGAPORE – While the world geared up to celebrate the arrival of 2016, TBWA\Santiago Mangada Puno was marking a milestone of another kind, making history as it became the most-awarded advertising agency at the Campaign Asia-Pacific Agency of the Year Awards – the first time a Philippine house has held the record – with four wins.
Held in Singapore, the awarding ceremony saw the Philippines score its biggest ever-achievement at the 22-year old show, as TBWA\SMP won Silver in the Integrated Agency of the Year category. Managing Partner and Chief Creative Officer Melvin Mangada took pride of place as Southeast Asia’s Creative of the Year, while Managing Director Portia Catuira became the first in the Philippines to win Account Person of the Year.
Scoring such a significant triumph at the prestigious AOY was a fitting finale to TBWA\SMP’s stellar 2015, whose highlights included blockbuster wins at awards shows and festivals here and abroad – including Clio, One Show, Spikes Asia, and Cannes Lions – for campaigns such as Shokubutsu Hana’s ‘Water Billboard’.
According to Mangada, the Agency’s ability to win big on the international stage is a testament to hard work and the power of TBWA\SMP’s parent network’s philosophy of Disruption over convention – a credo that necessitated the introduction of new technologies, specialists, and facilities to meet the demands of a rapidly-changing media landscape.
With their reputation as The Disruption Agency proven beyond a doubt, TBWA\SMP stands ready and willing to meet whatever creative challenges await in the year ahead.
